If it was unclear, Annie is shaking her head side to side in the last frame. She doesn't want to deal with that right now.

Frame 3 - if you remember, there was a large rip on the right side of the dress, where the corset meets the fabric. Annie was holding it up, but dropped it while singing. So anyone would have seen the SIDE of her underwear. Not anything.. um.. unmentionable.

Annie is in such a state of shock that she carries the blanket to cover herself, and then keeps failing to do so. You know Jamie is RIGHT THERE, right?

" The Bloody Maiden ", a MTF, is the next Goth and rave icon, maybe ? What an unexpected role for Annie, if that is the case !

@CuteDress&TwinPonytails: Failure and injury are the two quickest ways to popularity. Then again, it's just a small venue backwater club in a redneck town, how far could it go?
Worse, would she be able to keep her identity hidden with media attention?

My first thought was new goth icon, too. Poor Annie... situations seem to get out of control quickly...

It can't really be a " backwater club in a redneck town ", since the town is big enough to have a TV station to broadcast the local news, as shown in panel 5. That is a flat screen plasma TV in the foreground of panel 5, isn't it ?

@CuteDress&TwinPonytails: There are a lot of little dive bars in Calgary. And even fewer alternative scene ones (two gay clubs, afaik). So the probability of this being A) a good club and B) a club that hires university bands is pretty much nill.

As for the redneck part? Yeah. Calgary is a redneck town that wears the cowboy hat of civility. For fuck sakes, there is still racial tension there! My ex experiences anti-black sentiment in goddamn 2001. There is pretty solid reason why I was loathe to go outside during the day during transition. Whenever I did, things rarely went well.

Doesn't mean us rednecks don't have nice big TVs!
