Artists notes: Thats the first time I've used the machine to do the skirt. I don't really like the results. It looks too.. mechanical. I usually find it cathartic to colour it by hand.

I sorta messed up frame 1 - Annie was supposed to not be coloured because she was freaking out. Meh. I like it coloured with an implication of being uncoloured.

Also, frame 6, with Tony being blown away in the breeze? Turned out perfectly. Even if it doesn't match the text, that's what make it so excellent. Because Annie isn't talking about anything specific to Tony, she is just.. talking. And he is fading away. That's something beautiful, in my opinion.

I totally forgot the third thing while I was typing, so I just fudged the end. It was really important too. I'm sure I will remember it before it becomes relevant.

In installment No. 162, " Dr. Bernt ", and in No. 164, " The Act ", the school uniform mini-skirt is shown as black with a green diamonds pattern. But now, in No. 643, " Weight ", the skirt is shown as green with a black diamonds pattern. Maybe the skirt, and girl's uniform overall had a minor mid-year revision and upgrade ? I don't know why such a minor detail stuck in my head when I read today's episode.

@CuteDress&TwinPonytails: Uh... no? It has always been green and brown. Maybe green and dark green if I mixed up the colours. You are at least as colourblind as I am, Cute.

#164 - The Act
Hex 371b24 is the dark
Hex 08611e is the light

#162 - Dr Bernt, Mr
Hex 280d15 is the dark
Hex 005f17 is the light

There WAS a revision from the very first time you saw the uniforms, where it was brown and red, and I mentioned that they looked like grilled steaks - #70, Fight!

@stickygirl: The chances of it ever going well for a trans person to go to school as their correct sex in a redneck city is not high. That said, risk vs reward, I think Annie is finally getting it.

@GreenKrog: While the skirt has always been green and brown, what Ponytails is attempting to explain is the colour order has been reversed in this strip.

If you imagine a row as a series of large Xs (XXXXX), the dark (brown) has traditionally been the lines and the light (green) has traditionally been the (diamond shaped) gaps. This is evident not only in early appearances (e.g. 162, 164) but in recent appearances (e.g. 570, 642). In this strip, the dark (brown) is forming the diamonds, and the light (green) is forming the lines / hatchings.

Meanwhile, it's likely the talk with Sophie's mum was to be about the dance (try to persuade her to let Annie and her daughter go as a girl-girl pair?), but I'm stumped by the "meaningless" second. No doubt we'll find out in future strips...

@mittfh: I was thrown off by the descriptor "black". You are quite right though, I have been inconsistent between which is the dominant colour and which are the diamond. You people pay closer attention than I do!
...I'm going to say that the skirt is reversable and puff on a bubble pipe saying "indeed" as though I did it on purpose.

-oOo- <-- that totally looks like a tiara!

Thing 1 was definitely talking to Sophie's mom so that they could go together as girl-girl. Looks like Sophie said no to that though :(

The second, meaningless thing is very vengeful and spiteful. I think everyone will enjoy it.

I STILL have no idea what thing 2.5 is. It is so far back now that I can't begin to remember.
