So yeah, I don't actually know either. Why DID Lexi accept? Why DID Mitch ask in the first place? DO they like each other? Won't this be super awkward?! Why DIDN'T Lexi take any time to think about it? Why HAS she been rejecting so many guys? Why CAN'T I see the difference between the shirt Lexi is wearing and the one she is holding? Why HAVE I run out of diet Dr Pepper?

This is why I hate dances (proms if you will). This one has caused nothing but grief and they're all about showing off and making a social statement and they're all bollocks. *mutters* *rants* Sorry for the B word but really...

@stickygirl: They are also about wish fulfillment. About spending a night feeling mature and beautiful and loved by the one you are with. To have fun and let go of the trappings of the real world. To some, being the queen bee is their wish to be fulfilled. For others, simply going with a single person who wants them for how they are is everything they wished for.

We should try to look at it not from how it is skewed against our perspective from the outside, or as the less fortunate, but how it can be beautiful for those who have little else in the world.

As much as it hurt me going to my graduation dance in a tux, I got to see all the girls there, now women, being glorious. Seeing them happy and beautiful gave me hope that I could be some day as well. Yeah, it hurt like hell, but it also filled a spot that now has something I never knew needed it.

Hope can be found in strange places. We need to let it spring when it does.

The stupid thing is, I wouldn't mind it now - but then - I avoided all that, it was too painful
