The snark has become aggro.

I'm sure that in any other conversation Annie would have loved the irony of what Sophie's mother said in frame 2.

Frame 4 is probably my newest favourite expression. I didn't even know I could do that.

Now if only Annie could be as strong and snarky in full-girl mode...

Still, makes a change to be "reverse read" (so to speak - outed as a girl in boy-mode), and Annie's departing comment suggests that it's possible that after the dance, Sophie may have some time with Annie-proper (in mannerisms at the very least - if they've sitll got enough energy to nip back to Annie's house afterwards so Annie can change back, so much the better!), rather than Annie-trying-to-be-Tony.

But before then, there's the journey to the dance and the dance itself, which may take a few strips to cover (while no doubt continuing Annie's rollercoaster journey through life and emotions).
