So those hands are probably the best thing I've ever drawn, technically speaking. Shading and tears and blood and stuff.

I was getting all ready to apologize for using this metaphor, because it is so bloody cliche in trans* everything. But now that I've put it on paper, I get it. I finally get it.

(For you butterfly enthusiasts, I have no bloody clue what cocoon that is, but yes, the butterfly itself is loosely based on a monarch.)

Cliche only in the minds of cynics. The metaphor might be old but it still applies

I always thought of it more like having braces.

Right now, you look wrong. You know you do. It's uncomfortable to smile. You hate having them.

But you know they'll come off someday, and everything will be fine. You'll have a beautiful bright smile, and it won't matter that you had to suffer through the braces.

This coming from someone who never had braces, so I don't know what it's actually like. It's a metaphor, darnit!

@Dew: We could end up with metaphoritis! Can't we just say transitioning is shit but sometimes it gets better?

Very nice butterfly. Some of them even like blood. Funny, I thought all metaphors were heavy handed? Or maybe that's just films today...

A metaphor that isnt heavy handed will not be recognized for what it is by the majority of humans.
