It's one thing to think about the horrible things people call you. It's another to say them out loud.

Flint is being nice about it. Wonder what his REAL intentions are? (Because nobody can just be nice, right?)

I don't know, I'm not buying it. Flint had a dream about being a girl, one that made him cry. When Annie didn't give much of a reaction, Flint moved on and made a comment about crossdressing jokingly. When Annie reacted negatively to it to not blow her cover, Flint was quick to defend crossdressing and (incorrectly) call her homophobic.

I'm calling it now, FLINT FUTURE TRANS CHARACTER 2015

In the meantime, Annie seems like a TERF right now so after testing the waters don't expect a big coming out party just yet.

@Bri: Is Annie really not homophobic? Or, at least, transphobic? When she killed herself, was that not an act of transphobia? She may be fully accepting of it in others, but of herself?

There are other reasons why Flint might be accepting of trans people, other than him/her being trans, right? Maybe one of his family members is trans! Maybe one of his school friends is trans! Maybe he just *really* likes RuPaul's Drag Race (and did the proper research thereafter to understand the important differences between trans and drag). Who knows!

You are certainly right, after that outburst, I would be less than happy to talk to Annie about LGBT issues. She seems pretty uptight and conservative. Maybe it's just the wisdom of my years, but I would still come out anyways. If they don't like it - I don't need them in my life. So if I was Flint (Flintette? Flintressa? I like Flintressa). Anyways, if I was Flintressa, I would just come out anyways and if Annie didn't like it, well, the hell with her. That's just me though.
...then I'd go hit on Mitch :)

Well while homophobia and transphobia go hand in hand and are often confused for each other, crossdressing isn't an inherently "gay" activity, so being against it isn't homophobic. Either way it's prejudice and just a matter of semantics.

I did consider the fact Flint may just be a well informed and accepting guy, but that dream still bugs me. Perhaps he's FtM and the dream was a trip down memory lane. Either way, it seems weird that someone with a stable gender identity would be brought to tears about a dream like that. Dreams are how the subconscious deals with subjects it doesn't understand; it recreates those situations and trains you to deal with those challenges. But, that might be too deep for a webcomic.

Sure, Flint is still capable of coming out to Annie even if she appears to be hostile to the subject, but I'm sure we both know that's a whole lot easier said than done. You're right though, an inconvenient truth is better than an easy lie.

@Bri: I suppose I've written much more of him than you have seen, but I can tell you outright - he jokes a lot. His level of taking things seriously ain't high. After all, when Annie totally dropped her voice after he mentioned the dream, he pawned it off on her making voices and asked if she does accents - he didn't care that she had a man voice. So I will sorta spoil things a bit - the dream he mentioned probably didn't even happen. It was said for shock value and entertainment purposes only. You are right, it is too deep for this web comic! (Really, it was a setup for the rest of the issues it brings up, not for the content itself.)

I won't say that you are WRONG, but I will tell you that you aren't exactly right. You will find out.. uh.. in about 5 months. And it will make SO much more sense why he is so cool with all of it. Ish.

@GreenKrog: Not everyone interpreted Flint literally - I suspected from the "dream" comment onwards he was messing with her and winding her up in an attempt to cheer her up / bring her out of her funk.

Hmm... with both Sophie and Vic having left town... nah, he couldn't be Love Interest #3, could he? :D

@mittfh: I certainly didn't mean for it to be interpreted literally! He was just trying to be super nice! *flails frantically*

Sophie left, but Vic hasn't let yet. Technically, Jamie also existed, so this would be love interest #4. If you don't include Stewart, of course. Will Flint be the love interest? You will have to wait and find out!
