I told you this week was bad. Sorry.

If nothing else? Annie's "mother" called Mal a guy! I wonder if he even noticed? He seems to have priorities right now.

Post Traumatic stress disorder is a very real thing, and it can be caused by a large number of things. It is not only for catastrophic events, but also long-term traumas. Extended abuse, including emotional abuse, can cause it, and there are people who can and will help you, if you let them.
If you think you need help, or want someone to talk to, but don't know where to start? Please tell me. I will do anything I can to find the right person for you to talk to. There is no shame in it, and anyone who says it is, is wrong. You deserve to have a happy life, fee from pain, especially pain from the past.

@GreenKrog: It's likely no-one in the scene took in that Mal was called a guy - especially given she immediately launches into the "all gay men are sexual predators / pedophiles" fallacy.

Thankfully, if things get tough on the home front, Annie has at least one long-term safe bolt-hole (the Bernts) and probably several short-term bolt-holes.

As truly terrifying as this page is, I can't help but notice that the instant she had that flashback to the orderly, all her color came back. Like all of a sudden, she knew whose side this "doctor" and her "mother" were on: the same one that would beat her half to death and stab her brother's kidney out. Like all the sense of self that was being stripped away came back at that moment - "I am Annie, and what these people want to do is destroy me."

@Tempest: It is nearly impossible to not know who you are after a thing like that. They say you cannot know the true nature of a man until you hang him over a volcano. In this case, Annie has already been over that volcano - she knows exactly who she is, and can never be anything else.

When I was in a psych ward, there was a doctor who basically told me flat out, "Do not transition. People who transition will never be happy." I did not listen to him and am thankful I did not. The only thing I'm unhappy about with my transition is how much my divorce cost me, but that's just money. Every year, I pray that my negative feedback and that of others will force this ass*** doctor into early retirement.
