Ugh, my stomach hurts. This entire week has been about depression and suicide.

I want to clarify something here. Just because a person throws away their tools, it does not mean that they are 'fixed'. It is very easy to buy more pills, or buy more rope. However, and this is important - many suicides are done via an 'act of convenience'. There have been studies done wherein the prevalence of suicide attempts is directly corresponding to the availability of tools.
Again, to clarify - if a person who wants to kill themselves is dedicated, they will try. But having the tools thrown away, especially under their own power, makes a huge difference to the survival rate of depressed people.

I do not in any way want to oversimplify this. I also do not mean to say only depression causes suicide. Bipolar, borderline, PTSD, any number of things can trigger this to happen.

I cannot promise that Annie will never go back there again. Or Andrea. Or myself. But I know that with the people who love us standing with us, we can survive. Together.
