Unfortunately, nothing was proven about the initial assault. If you remember way the hell back, the room Annie was in had a broken camera, and there was no proof enough to even take Olson to trial. He was fired, sure, but that was as far as they could go without anything more.

I can assure you, having spent time in psych wards, it is entirely possible for people to be assaulted by people in charge with no proof being left. It never happened to me, but I am hypervigilant and notice the glaring gaps in security. For example, at the Vancouver General, there is a long underground corridor that goes between the main hospital and the psych area, used because patients being admitted are not allowed to have shoes, and have to be wheelchaired. There are no cameras in this hallway, and it is abandoned at most times. As well, there are a number of side passages which lead to maintenance rooms.
I'm just saying, if someone hates you, they can find a way to hurt you. And there may be no proof. So.. unfortunately.. Mrs Lincolns testimony means nothing.

She could still be a character witness against him. She worked with him, and could describe her impression of him. Maybe she can't go into details of who he assaulted because it wasn't proven, but she could still give her testimony about any remarks he made, his attitude towards the patients, as well as the fact that he knew Annie from that point, meaning there was an established relationship in which he knew her history, or at least had access to that knowledge (hence, he would be less likely to be able to use the "gay panic" defense).

I would think that she'd at least be able to testify as to the reasons Mr. Wayne was fired from the hospital. Those would be facts, not heresay, wouldn't they? Unless she doesn't know, of course.
