Well, on the one hand, Annie used the P word. So that's a thing. But Julie is shooting down every reason surrounding it, and Annie is running out of excuses!

...which is why she has no clue what went wrong when she was clearly getting through.

@GreenKrog: While that's probably not what Annie's problem with being transgender is, I think a sense of being normal is something we really do need.

From a logical standpoint, I know that normal does not equal good. Normal means like everyone else, and normal is in fact sometimes bad. However, normal also means belonging with everyone else.

I call myself a gamer. Why do I do that? I hate the gaming community. All they do is fight among themselves or act like sexist, homophobic jerks. I can't spend five minutes on a gaming forum without wanting to punch someone in the face. So why do I bother? Why do I care so much about something so meaningless, even as I'm usually the first to say that labels are utterly pointless?

It's pretty obvious when I take a minute to think about it. Being a gamer makes me similar to other people. It means I belong. It's the one normal thing about me, so I desperately cling to it. I honestly don't think it's possibly to completely free ourselves of the need to feel normal.

I am one. And one of my favorite sites to play and chat on is a pretty awesome community. There are a couple of threads where Trans people talk about their issues and get positive feedback and support.

Every June I go to a small convention in Johnson City we lovingly call Trogland. A lovely group of people who accept everyone as long as they are not jerks.

So please, don't feel that all gamer's are misogynist pigs who get along oh-so-well with turf feminists.
