Annie might not see it now, but that was a huge victory. She is losing herself in the hurtful words, instead of the one important word.

@Steph : Nothing special. It just has Bree's home phone number. Something she has not given to Annie since they met since Bree has been scared of her parents finding out Annie even exists.

Two things:
(a) called Annie by her birth mother (albeit followed by words to the effect of "you're forcing me to confront my deeply held prejudices and I DON'T LIKE IT"),
(b) "Don't hurt yourself though... please."

It sounds as though there's the first sign of a crack in the barriers she's erected between herself and Annie. Obviously it will still take plenty of time for them to start breaking down, but it's a start.

Saw it as well.

Gotta say, I'm a little surprised that Annie's mother bent even that much. But it's a step, and it is obvious that what Annie said before got through to mother.
