Fear is normal. It is rational. It makes sense, it is a part of us.
Annie has more to fear than most people. Certainly more than most trans people, given her public life. And yet, she can live with it now.
Can the rest of us?

Also, disclaimer, there is nothing wrong with being a vet, it is just the only answer Dr Bernt probably ever hears from young people.

I actually never wanted to be a vet, or a doctor even. I was more the firefighter or cop kind of kid. Until I realized that cops and firefighters (especially firefighters, but cops too) dealt with the same kind of crap that doctors have to deal with. That is, the very real possibility of screwing up and causing someone to die. After that, I wanted to be a meteorologist. Then I discovered space, and knew what I wanted to be, in a very general way.
