Is the use of the word 'hood' racist? I mean like, legit racist and not SJW racist. I mean, it has been around for a long time and is based on the word 'hoodlum' from an article in the 1800s, well before it became associated with the 1997 movie wherein it got directly related from then on to predominantly black neighbourhoods. Am I just overthinking this?

Aww, Annie and Wendy are getting closer as friends instead of farther from being trans. Good for them!

I feel bad for Mr Phan (last name stolen from my boss). He just got played pretty hard. Remember what I said about every social group needing a social character? Wendy is it. She might not be the sharpest brick in the pile, but damn if she can't get things done.

...what pictures? I wanna see them now.

Honestly, I think It's only racist if you try to do something with the word 'hood' involved.

"Sup my black hoes, what's up in your hood?"
that for example is racist if you are not acquainted with them and a different race XD

I sometimes say 'hood' just because I'm too lazy to say the whole word lol

I don't think the word hood is inherently racist. Words can't be racist, they're non-sentient concepts. They don't have an ideology.

What determines whether or not what you say is racist is intent. If what you say doesn't imply in any way that a race is inferior to another, it is by definition not racist.

Hoodlum is just a synonym for criminal or gangster. An abbreviation of it wouldn't be racist or offensive.

@Guest: naaaah. Its a very real, very annoying subset of the lgbt community. Did I mention annoying?

Helped run an online lgbt support network for a few years.
Yeah.Fuck sjws.

"nobody is allowed to use the word 'cunt' except transgirls because it triggers us"

Im not even kidding man. And we werent allowed to ban this person for the longest time because of the sjw storm It would bring.

Any issue you could possibly legitimately have, I promise, there is someone somewhere flaunting it like a fashion accessory and telling others they should kill themselves for not fully respecting their struggle.

@Nopls: In fairness to the other guy, it can be really hard to tell whether or not SJWs actually exist. We used to use it as a way of making fun of those who pushed social justice into censorship territory, or defended truly ridiculous causes. Nowadays, though, the right wing nutjobs call basically everyone SJWs. Want to make a movie or a game or a comic book with a gay or POC or female protagonist? Congratulations, you're now one of those damn dirty SJWs. Ever came to the defense of someone being insulted over their race or sexuality online? SJW. Ever expressed any sensible, nuanced opinion of any kind? Go away, you filthy SJW!

They've diluted the term into meaninglessness by applying it to everyone who doesn't think exactly like them.

@Yan Mouson: in the same vein, not everyone who has issues with these things in necessarily right wing. There are tons of people who have simply been exposed to too much of that lifestyle. To be honest, i get a little annoyed at the heavyhandedness of certain subjects in this very comic due to how often they're perverted. Its difficult to have a serious discussion about either group, though. Sjws are real, but so are conservative asses. Just as you assume they're judgemental jerks, they assume youre a delicate little special snowflake. if you dont like it, be the one to break the cycle.

May I ask for clarification on this? I do write about subjects that are being perverted - this is to hopefully show people how a thought/ideology can be flawed, and then show how to overcome or most past it. Is the writing being perceived as something else? How could I improve it?

@GreenKrog: not at the moment but I will totally explain myself in a few hours! =

Edit:Okay I'm mostly good now.

It comes off like an after-school special. The dialogue is far from lifelike, and feels more than a little forced in places. It kinda feels like everything is milked, for lack of a better idea of what to call it. Like it's being used as much as it can to like... anything that someone could be feeling in the situation, amplified by like 10x and put through a drama filter, then overexplained like a crappy narrator. Like "this is the letter 'a', it is the first character of something called the alphabet that's used for communication between homo sapiens."

@Nopps: I think what NOPPS is trying to say here is that the comic's dialogue tends to feel a little on the nose. Characters tend to overexplain how they feel instead of showing it through their actions. Annie in particular has a tendency to wax poetic about things that most people in real life would express more subtly.

Personally, I kind of enjoy that approach. It comes at the expense of realism, but it lends the comic a sort of dreamlike feel.
