It's sweet to see how much the both of them care about her. They both are sad that she might not consider them a proper dad, that one dad is the better dad. They should talk and bond, I feel.:3

@Lady Emily: I've always held true to the African proverb 'It takes a Village to raise a child'. Biological parents mean nothing in the face of who does the care, the love, is there when you need them. Growing up I had.. well.. this comics Deb is not as bad as my real mother. But I found other mother figures that did know how to raise a child. Teachers, employers, heck, even our guild mother in WoW.
I recall my bio father talking to my step father, at length, every month or so about me and my brother while we were living with my stepfather and bio mother. They got along great. They talked about how to raise children, discussed the best way to approach, and arrived at conclusions that a single parent would never have gotten to. Dan and Gerald here are essentially doing the same thing. Annie is a lucky girl that way.
Personally, I clearly can't (and shouldn't) have kids. But my friends can, and they are family - I get to be an aunt and be their mother when the bio mom is away. I get to be the bad aunt, mind you, the one that teaches them to lockpick and be werewolves instead of vampires. Either way, I may not be their mother mother, but I get to be pretty close.

It takes a village.

Sean Astin is equally a lucky man, in that he has 4 fathers: Desi Arnaz Jr. (the man he thought was his biological father), John Astin (the man who adopted and raised him after marrying Patty Duke), Mike Tell (his biological father), and Mike Pearce (his step-father after John Astin). He says "I can call any of them on the phone any time I want to,"

That is pretty awesome.

I think the speech bubble is pointing the wrong way in the last panel here.
